Spirits Unseen

Spirits Unseen. The Representation of the Subtle Bodies in Early Modern European Culture.

Ed. C. Göttler & W. Neuber. Leiden, Brill 2008

A book on spirits in the broad sense of the word:

Spirits unseen investigates spirits (airy, volatile ‘subtle bodies’) in a variety of disciplines: in art theory, demonology, alchemy, psychology, in novels and the literature on love, to name only a few.

Especially interesting for hermetic students is an essay on Robert Fludd’s perception of the world spirit (Sophia) as described in his Philosophia Moysaica, by Schmidt-Biggemann (written in German).
