Free Adriaan Koerbagh!
Unfortunately, it ‘s a little too late for that: Koerbagh died in prison in 1669 (a ‘Rasphuis’ in Amsterdam). He belonged to the circle of Spinoza, and wrote a very critical lexicon debunking the dogmas of the reformed and other churches. Read all about this ‘heretic’ whose thumb would have been chopped off, whose tongue would have been pierced and whose books would have been burnt if some of the Amsterdam magistrates would have had their wicked way with him. Seventeenth-century Amsterdam was not always that tolerant!
