Bruiloft by Claudy Jongstra (De Ketelfactory 2013).

Claudy Jongstra is a creative artist who enthusiastically experiments with natural materials to create works of art. In her work she particularly likes to use felt as a basic material.

Jongstra’s sources of inspiration for her project ‘Bruiloft’ (‘ wedding’) came from the life and work of the early Dutch expressionist pioneers Jacoba van Heemskerck and Marie Tak van Poortvliet. We previously posted a Pearl of Wisdom about these two artists on Thursday 31 October. These women were searching to produce radiating colours in their work, seeking to transform them in an almostalchemical way. They found inspiration in nature but also in antroposophy.

What a wonderful link with our new exhibition ‘Beauty as the Imprint of the Cosmos’!

The Dutch-languageBruiloft contains images of Jongstra’s work and her exhibition, and also includes a DVD with a video portrait of the artist.

The accompanying exhibition (admission free) runs until 17 November 2013. Copies of the book will be available in the exhibition room.
