Opening of the exhibition ‘Goddelijke Wijsheid – Goddelijke Natuur’

On 11 September 2015, the next instalment in the travelling exhibition ‘Divine Wisdom – Divine Nature’ will open in the Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica in Amsterdam. Among the exhibition treasures are a copy of the rare Dutch translation of the first Rosicrucian manifesto, the Fama Fraternitatis (1615). The opening will be performed by Prof. Dr. Henk Woldring, emeritus professor of political philosophy and author of the book Jan Amos Comenius. Zijn leven, missie en erfenis‘.

At the opening, library director Esther Ritman will briefly highlight some of the plans for the House with the Heads on Keizersgracht, the library’s future domicile. Appropriately, the new exhibition will also pay attention to Jan Amos Comenius, the Czech reformer who was once the guest of Laurens de Geer in the House with the Heads. Among the loans is a portrait of Comenius copied after Rembrandt.
